ZANGEZI is a radical, multimedia reimagining of Velimir Chlebnikov's visionary, planetary poem from 1922. Under the artistic direction of internationally acclaimed media artist Chris Salter, in collaboration with an international team of renowned artists from the fields of music, visual arts, AI, performance and technology, a spectacular multimedia event is being created in which spatialised sound, light, music, graphics and AI-controlled scenography generated by a game engine merge with intense, physical acting.
A central element of ZANGEZI is a monumental LED wall that serves as a visual and lighting device. AI-supported technologies and a game engine are used to create new digital landscapes, characters and soundscapes that interact live with the performers, thus merging art, technology and narrative into a unique ‘super saga in 20 levels’. The production explores key issues of our time: the tension between humans and nature, the power of language, and war and conflict as drivers of historical change.
